Las Cruces shows April 20 & 21
Algernon refers to it as "a Kilibudhilad."
A Kilibudhilad is when we perform An Iliad and Killing Buddha back to back. It doesn't happen very often, in part because it's exhausting for the performers, but it does offer a unique chance to experience a cycle.
Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare's marvelous adaptation of the Fagles version of the Iliad is what brought us together in 2014 (we actually began preparation in 2013), and from that tale of war and rage, we were inspired to develop the "Killing Buddha" as a response: another story from another part of the world, transitioning from rage and violence to redemption and transformation.
We still hear from friends in Las Cruces who either did not see one of these shows or want to see them again. We have partnered with our friends at the Doña Ana Arts & Cultural Center to make that happen - next month.
